What is a LUT?

LUT stands for “Look Up Table”. A LUT is a mathematical formula which remaps existing colours from the source image to display a new set of RGB levels for that image, providing the user with a variety of ‘Looks’ that becomes helpful in the process of colour grading and achieving specific colour combinations. In simple terms, it will inject a new colour range to your footage, providing it with a specific look.

Will CinePre2 work on my footage?

CinePre has been designed to work with a wide range of footage, however the product will yield its best results from properly exposed and properly white balanced video and still images that have been recorded in either a flat, log or raw profile. The various LUTs are designed to give your video a wide range of high quality looks, each having a unique feel and use.

The presets are most effective when used as a base platform for grading your footage. Meaning once they are applied to your video it is recommended you further tweak your image by adjusting the exposure as each LUT will affect brightness levels differently.

How were the LUTs developed?

Each LUT has been carefully designed using 3D mathematical formulas created by Daniel Alexander, a multi-award winning filmmaker. Many of the looks are based on grades he uses himself on a daily basis in a variety of film related productions.

Is CinePre2 easy to use?

It couldn't be more simple. Instructions are included with each version of CinePre so you will be getting that ‘film-look’ in no time.
