SUPPORTING NEW & EMERGING FILMMAKERS

Filmward is designed to offer support to new and emerging filmmakers, by providing a monthly Q&A session with industry professionals. Navigating the film industry can be a daunting experience, and knowing where to start or how to move forward is tricky at best. Filmward is here to bridge the gap between passion and profession, and provide honest and open answers on a multitude of topics, and sign posting people to further help and support where necessary.

Each month, we will open our doors to a limited number of people who are passionate about making films, whether they are directors, camera operators, writers or editors. During these sessions, the filmmakers will have the chance to tell us about their own unique journey and ask the questions they have previously had difficulty in finding an answer to.

Filmward is about creating a network of support and developing an eco-system that empowers new and emerging filmmakers on their journey, connecting them with other filmmakers and key figures in the screen sector.

Who is Filmward for?

Filmward is for filmmakers who are at an early stage of their journey, or have made progress in some areas but have hit a brick wall in others, and need a little support and information on how they can move forward productively towards a bigger goal. This includes a range of disciplines including narrative film, music videos, corporate film and events filming. All at no cost.

Where do the monthly meet-ups take place?

As of now, all of the meet-ups will currently take place in Birmingham, with plans to expand at a later stage.

What kind of information can I get help with?

We aim to help you with every aspect of filmmaking, so no problem is too big or small. Whether it's a very technical camera related question, or maybe you need some help in finding and applying for funding, or even the logistics of setting up a business to make a living through film, Filmward will bring in the right people to answer your questions and provide a relaxed friendly environment to discuss them with you.

Is there an age limit?

Of course not. All are welcome.

What happens when I sign up?

You will be emailed each month with information about the next Filmward meeting, you will then have the option of letting us know if you'd like to attend or not. There is no obligation.
